Mexican Highlights
1.Cenotes - I think I have made my point...
2.Taco Paco - Located just outside Puerto Aventuras (Highway 307), Taco Paco serves the best shrimp tacos I have ever had. I´m no expert, but the combination and variety of toppings allows you to make your own signature taco. They´re great value for money too.
3.Baja California beaches - They´re great for camping and go on for miles. The Baja Californian peninsula is not overly populated so you can quite easily find yourself camping on a beach with nobody around, leaving you to soak in the breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific.
Karst Diving and Me
Angela
Taken in Cenote Chac Mool
Born in the south of Chile, Pietro’s photos cover subject matter from Central America, Mexico, South America, Hawaii, Tahiti, and Polynesia, to name just a few locations. His dedicated training and ambition for diving has allowed him to journey into some of our planets most remote places.
Scuba diving since an early age of 9 in the Pacific waters off Chile, Pietro’s love of the ocean steered him into a career in scuba diving. Together with years of diver training and experience in camera operation Pietro has acquired a unique skill in combining these two fields of expertise.

Alongside his interest in capturing pictures and video, Pietro has a great passion for working in filming and documentary production projects. His interest in this field grew momentum in 1999 when he was fortunate in being on the set of the IMAX film Journey into Amazing Caves which was filmed here in Mexico and produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films.
Pietro has subsequently worked on various filming projects focused and involving cave diving and Mayan culture here in Mexico. His roles in many of these have been as a Safety Diver, underwater lighting advisor and grip.
Pietro completed his IANTD Full Cave Instructor course earlier this year. He is currently running a cenote dive concession and focusses his efforts towards instructing cave diving.
South African born and raised, Angela seeks adventure and intrigue in all her ventures. She arrived here in Mexico in 2007 after a brief 2 week vacation in 2006. Mesmerized by the cenotes she packed up her life in London and pursued the caves with willful intent.
Intrigued by nature and technology, it is not hard to imagine that Angela would find a purpose in the dense jungles of the Yucatan. Her background in technology combined with an appetite for adventure and her love of nature has brought her to respect and admire these caves and the secrets they hold.
Angela graduated from university in 2003 and moved to London shortly after. Not quite finding her footing in London she worked in various fields covering information technology, finance and even nursing. After a brief search for sun, she found the cenotes of the Riviera Maya and never looked back. Angela now works in computer software development, focussing mostly on website design and development. She teaches PADI Open Water diving, works as a Cenote Dive Guide from time to time and assists Pietro with underwater lighting and camera work for cave diving videos. She enjoys photography and learns all she can from Pietro.
With a bachelors degree in information technology her ambition is to further her studies in doing a Master degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), combining geography and technology, while living and diving here in Mexico. In between learning many new skills is diving, filming and photography, she wishes to learn more about the history of the Yucatan Peninsula, its caves, its water and how it supported a once thriving civilization, the Maya.
Right now, her efforts are focused in researching and writing about the cenotes - past, present and future. She has at her disposal some of the most outstanding underwater photographs to illustrate her findings.
With little over 500 open water dives and less than 50 cave dives, her spare time is spent cave diving and perfecting much needed skills and techniques.
