cave diving

Cave diving is very rewarding and requires a lot of discipline and training. Practice is also vital, because the skills and techniques necessary are very different from those  used in normal, open water, recreational scuba diving.

We often advise newly certified cave divers to dive assisted, or guided, for a minimum number of dives depending on their level and ability. This is really to the benefit of every diver. Although we learn many new skills and techniques in our training, we only really become proficient after many dives and after a lot of practice.

Many new divers jam reels, struggle with finning techniques and struggle with their air consumptions due to stress, task loading and generally being inexperienced for that level of diving.

What you should know

  1. Personal markers, reels & line cutters

  2. Good Primary Light

  3. Good thermal protection

The main reason may be for safety, because we know and dive these cave systems frequently and have a lot of experience in this area. Another important reason is for you to enjoy your dive and focus on your technique, your dive and the experience. There are so many factors involved when coming here to cave dive. For instance getting tanks rented and filled, transportation, finding the locations and then having to find the permanent cave lines and knowing the land owners and safety officers in the area amongst others.
