Intro to cave course

 

The second step

This course takes you from the daylight cavern area into the cave. The skills learnt in this course enables you to perform a safe, standard cave dive using full cave gear. The standards set out in this course enables you to stay within set limits for your own safety and enabling you to master your skills before advancing on the the next level.


In the course you will learn many new skills which you will need time to perfect. Practice is vital in gaining confidence.

Course Outline

  2. BulletAdvanced Open Water or IANTD Cavern Diver certified

  3. BulletAt least 18 years of age

  4. BulletMinimum of 25 logged dives


  1. BulletDuration:

  2. BulletMinimum 3-4 days which includes at least 8 hours of lectures, at least 1 confined water session and no less than 8 dives in the overhead environment.

  3. BulletThis course is combined with the cavern course. If you are already certified as an IANTD Cavern Diver we will simply do a review of your skills and knowledge and move on to the Intro to Cave section of the course.

  6. BulletGas management - Rule of 6s. This means that maximum cave penetration can be done using only 1/6 of total twin tank air.


  1. BulletIncludes: Gear rental, tanks, air (not Nitrox), transport to the dive sites (not Hotel pick-up) and entrance fees to the cenotes. Some personal cave diving equipment must be purchased and cannot be hired or borrowed.
